In a joint effort with the USDA Forest Service, PalmettoPride has planned a Feb. 4 cleanup of the Francis Marion National Forest and needs the public’s help. Illegal dumping continues to be a problem in many areas of the National Forests and PalmettoPride is determined to prevent it through education, enforcement, awareness and pickup.
They are calling on you to join them for this one day cleanup event at 8 a.m. on Feb. 4. Meeting place is US Forest Service Office, 2967 Steed Creek Rd., Awendaw, S.C. (off of Hwy. 17, south of Georgetown, S.C.)
Volunteers for site leaders and to pick up litter are needed. Volunteers are encouraged to bring trucks/trailers if available. Donations are also accepted. The cleanup will last until 12 p.m. After the cleanup, lunch will be for all the volunteers who helped clean the Francis Marion National Forest. Also, local businesses have donated items to be awarded to volunteers and Charleston Counties will dispose of litter gathered by volunteers.
Please review the following list. If you would like to volunteer to clean up or to help coordinate the event, underline yourdesired volunteer position and email it back to ecampbell@palmettopride.org or fax 803-758-6032 attention Gene Campbell or USPS:
